Getting Back from Sausalito
The ferry
The ferry is how most walkers and riders get home, and the ride back across the bay is half the reason to go to Sausalito at all. Two landings in the city: Pier 41 at Fisherman’s Wharf, a few blocks from where the bike tours start, and the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero. I print no times or fares because they change by season.
The bus, and riding back
Golden Gate Transit buses run from Sausalito back over the bridge into the city, which suits walkers who came over on foot. Riding back is the third option: the climb up from Sausalito to Vista Point, then the deck into the headwind, then the Presidio descent. Eat in Sausalito before the ferry, not after. The Wharf at 5:00 pm is a queue for everything; the Sausalito waterfront at 3:00 pm is not.
